Western Maharashtra Chapter – IFS

West Maharashtra chapter of Indian Fertility Society was established in the year 2011 with the aim of the central body, the Indian Fertility Society, to reach out to more practicing IVF specialists and embryologists through state chapter’s activities. With this goal in mind and the blessings of Dr. C. N. Purandare, Dr. Bharati Dhorepatil, the Founder Chapter Secretary, took the initiative to form the very first chapter of IFS: The West Maharashtra chapter. Since then Dr. Bharati, along with her efficient team, toiled during its formative years to build the prestigious chapter that it is today.

In the year 2014, WMC-IFS organized its first national conference: the 14th annual conference of Fertivision-2014. The membership drive for WMC-IFS was initiated by Dr. Bharati and that successfully enrolled new members. Today, the society has grown from a single founder member to 60 life-time members and the number keeps growing.

In addition to the annual conferences, various successful regional conferences were conducted in the big cities of Pune, Nashik, Satara etc. that were graced by renowned international and national faculties. Novel concepts about newer advances made in ART that were never heard before were introduced and discussed. The members experienced hands on workshop of techniques in ART that were introduced for first time in India.

Taking the conferences to places like Satara and Nashik was a successful innovative idea and these conferences involved various nearby Ob-Gyn societies with a huge number of delegates registering, and all the workshops were overbooked. This set a trend of conducting conferences in faraway places, thus helping the spread of knowledge to many Ob-Gyn consultants and enabling them learn about ART.

For the every first time in India, workshops were conducted exclusively for the Paramedical staff which was highly appreciated and it started a trend to be followed in subsequent Fertivision conferences.

Apart from this, WMC-IFS conducted the first ever Advanced semenology workshop to demonstrate the new upcoming semen tests such as DNA fragmentation Assay , ROS Assay , Hylauronion binding Assay and PICSI which had delegates coming from all over India the workshop was overbooked.

Our goal at WMC-IFS is
To conduct and organize lectures, conferences, seminars, symposiums, and workshops by inviting the experts in Assisted Reproductive Techniques, both national and international practitioners, so as to update and teach the ART specialists in effective management of infertile patients.
To encourage excellence in Basic clinical and Embryological research for the ART practitioners, whereby we can have our own Indian data.
Infertility management needs multidisciplinary approach, WMC-IFS chapter aims at serve as a forum for interchange of Ideas, between professionals of various medical and paramedical disciplines.
Disseminate information about infertility treatment, remove the misconceptions surrounding it for the patients, and educate public about its management.
